Job description

At Dyflexis, we help millions of employees worldwide with our workforce management software. From the bakery around the corner to international hotel and retail chains. The software is powerful, customer questions are diverse, and no two days are the same. You'll get to know the product inside out and contribute to something that's growing rapidly in more than 20 countries.

How do we do it? We work in a fast-paced environment with short communication lines. There are no unnecessary meetings and no politics. Our Focus? Ownership, clear communication, and getting things done together. We move quickly, learn by doing, and continuously improve. As our Senior Database Administrator, you’ll keep our complex database fast, stable, and ready to scale, while helping developers understand the impact of their queries on performance.

Job requirements

This is what you’ll do
You’re responsible for the performance, stability, and scalability of our database infrastructure, spread across multiple clusters. You’ll review and optimise queries, oversee migrations, and make sure our infrastructure keeps up as we grow, all while raising the bar on how we manage data internally. You’ll work closely with our Platform team, and with developers directly to make sure the database side is considered from the start.

  • Own production database performance: review and optimize queries, indexing, and execution plans using MySQL and ProxySQL.

  • Run migrations across our database clusters, including working with Atlas.

  • Improve and evolve our database infrastructure, including scaling strategies like sharding and partitioning, as we restructure how our systems are set up.

  • Write and maintain the standards that keep database work consistent across teams, from data modelling to how migrations get done.

  • Handle regular database maintenance, from monitoring and mutations to schema changes.

  • Review merge requests and PHP code for how they touch the database and join project kick-offs to shape the database approach early.

This is what you’ll need

  • 5+ years of experience as a database administrator or database engineer, ideally across large or complex databases.

  • Experience in fintech, HR tech, SaaS, or ticketing and ordering platforms is a plus. A relevant certification helps too, though it’s not a requirement.

  • Deep expertise in MySQL, with solid experience in at least one other Database Management System. Postgres, Oracle, or MSSQL Server are all a plus.

  • Familiarity PHP skills, enough to read and review how developers write queries and loops.

  • Excellent written and spoken English. You can communicate clearly enough so that there’s no room for misinterpretation.

What you'll get

At Dyflexis, you'll be part of an ambitious, energetic, and customer-focused team. We offer:

  • Fixed salary up to €6,500 gross per month based on a 40-hour week (experience based).

  • Personal development budget to level up your skills.

  • 25 vacation days plus your birthday off in exchange for cake.

  • An in-house chef surprising you daily with fresh lunch.

  • The best parties, drinks and trips (Winter sports, Ibiza and more).

  • Membership at ARJ Training boxing gym (home of champion Tarik and Levi Rigters).

  • Solid pension plan and 8% holiday allowance.

  • Buy or sell vacation days, you decide.

  • Travel allowance and WFH compensation.

  • Friday chair massages to kick off your weekend.
